Getting started

Install Just Dashboard, reach it privately, and take your first look around.

Just Dashboard 0.8.4 manages one Linux server through one authenticated web interface. The normal install is a Docker Compose stack with a Go API, a Next.js interface, and Caddy in front. The installer handles the setup questions and prints your exact address and sign-in details.

Your first ten minutes

  1. Install the dashboard on the server you want to manage.
  2. Open it through Tailscale or an SSH tunnel. The installer prints the right URL for your choice.
  3. Sign in as the first administrator and answer what the server is for. Your answer decides which sections your sidebar shows.
  4. On Overview, check the host readings and use the shortcuts to start a project, a database, a shell or a drawing. Then open Backups and read its Coverage list to see what still needs a backup job.

The full sidebar leads to Monitoring, Deployments, Databases, Docker, the Workspace tools (Excalidraw, Terminal, Files, Git and Remote Desktop), Network, Proxy & TLS, Security, Backups, Server configuration and Settings. A section you leave out at first sign-in is only out of the sidebar: links and search still open it, and you can bring it back under Account → Workspace.

The dashboard is root-equivalent: an administrator can control the host. Keep access on a private network or an SSH tunnel, and give accounts only the role they need.

Already installed?

Use the upgrade guide to move to a newer release without replacing your data or master key. The configuration reference explains settings the installer writes and the ones you can tune later. To take the dashboard off the server, see uninstall.
